WHO WE ARE
Sagist Group is a vertically integrated luxury furniture manufacturer and turnkey FF&E partner, founded in Istanbul in 1996. We design, manufacture, ship and install custom furniture for hotels, villas, residences, restaurants and corporate headquarters across the world. Every piece is produced in our own ateliers, on machinery we own and operate, by craftsmen we have trained and held. We do not subcontract our principal work.

OUR MISSION

Over twenty-nine years, we have completed more than one thousand international luxury commissions across twenty-three countries of direct operation and seventy-three countries of active export. Our annual export volume stands at three hundred and fifty-nine million US dollars. We are an official supplier to the British Royal Family and the Royal Palace, a credential earned over a multi-year supply relationship and held under royal warrant protocols. Our work has placed furniture in royal residences, embassies, heritage hotels, signature restaurants, principal villas and corporate headquarters — and we are most often appointed by repeat clients and the architects who have worked with us before. We are led by Founding Chairman and CEO Metin Durmaz, an architect and physics engineer educated at Sichuan University in Chengdu, and a former Deputy General Manager at a major Hong Kong investment firm. The duality of his training — structural integrity and aesthetic vision — defines the way Sagist operates. We are aggressive about expansion, conservative about quality and absolute about the standards we hold.

LEADERSHIP — METİN DURMAZ

Founding Chairman & CEO.

Metin Durmaz founded Sagist Group in 1996 and remains its Founding Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Born in Istanbul, he holds an undergraduate degree in architecture and a separate degree in physics engineering from Sichuan University in Chengdu — a dual qualification that allows him to direct international commissions with structural authority on one side and aesthetic conviction on the other.

Before consolidating his focus on Sagist Group, Durmaz served as Deputy General Manager at a prominent Hong Kong investment firm, where he directed cross-border capital allocation and high-net-worth portfolio operations. The experience shaped Sagist's modern character — a luxury furniture house that thinks like a finance institution about risk management, project structuring and international client confidentiality. Under his leadership, Sagist secured a one hundred and eighty-three million US dollar capital influx from UAE investors, positioning the group as a global "safe haven" for development capital across the Gulf, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean.

Durmaz directs strategy from what he describes as "outside the safety circle" — an operating philosophy that prioritises prestigious, secure and aggressive expansion over conservative consolidation. He personally signs every royal, state and embassy-level commission, and remains the named point of contact for principal-tier private clients across the group's geographies.

"We do not subcontract the work that defines us. We make it ourselves, or we do not take the commission." — Metin Durmaz, Founding Chairman & CEO

MANUFACTURING Vertical integration is the discipline at the centre of how Sagist works. Inside our Istanbul ateliers, we operate every stage of furniture production on machinery we own and on benches our own craftsmen occupy. There is no division of labour with external subcontractors on principal commissions, and no chain of supplier handovers that can break under pressure on a lease handover or pre-opening calendar.

Our principal production floor operates robotic laser cutting lines, CNC five-axis routers, edge-banding and pressure-veneer presses, and proprietary vacuum-compression packaging systems engineered for marine and overland export. Our dedicated upholstery floors are organised around kiln-dried hardwood frame shops, contract foam stations and hand-tied benches. Our finishing studios cover high-gloss lacquer, hand-rubbed oil, water gilding for classical work and patinated metal. Our bronze foundry produces ormolu mounts cast from period patterns or new drawings.

The discipline runs from the timber yard to the installed lamp. Timber is seasoned on site over months — for classical work, over years. Veneers are book-matched across rooms before a single panel is cut. Stone is selected at quarry, photographed and approved before the masonry contract closes. Containers are loaded by our own logistics team. Installation is carried out by our own crews. The piece does not pass through a hand outside our own until it is set in the client's room.

CRAFTSMANSHIP Industrial capability is the foundation. Craftsmanship is the difference. Sagist maintains a dedicated classic atelier inside the manufacturing complex — a separate workshop staffed by master craftsmen trained in the European tradition. Here, hand carving, water gilding to twenty-three carat, gesso work, marquetry, parquetry, ormolu chasing, French polishing and eight-way hand-tied upholstery are produced at benches that machines do not touch. The classic atelier is where royal commissions are made, where heritage hotel restorations are reproduced to museum standard, and where the most demanding private collector pieces are detailed. The work is referenced to original eighteenth and nineteenth-century inventories, English Georgian and Regency pattern books, Empire archives and the Art Deco masters. We have built and held the craft because the tradition demands it.

GLOBAL FOOTPRINT

Sagist Group operates directly across twenty-three countries with active project teams, installation crews and client representatives, and exports to a further fifty countries through tailored container logistics. We have completed signature commissions including the forty-villa Sofia Villa Estate in Bulgaria, the Sonic Tower in Singapore, premium Caribbean luxury apartments, the W Hotel Muscat in Oman, and specialist clinical fit-outs for the Saudi German Hospital.
Our principal export geographies are the Gulf (with anchor markets in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman), the United Kingdom, the Balkans (Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania and the former Yugoslav states), the Caribbean (private island residences and resort estates), Western Europe (France, Italy, Switzerland) and Russia and the CIS. We are currently deploying flagship showrooms in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to service the highest tier of Middle Eastern luxury development directly.

CERTIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALS
The standards behind the work.
Sagist Group is an official supplier to the British Royal Family and the Royal Palace — a credential earned over a multi-year supply relationship and held under royal warrant protocols. Specific royal commissions are not published or referenced publicly beyond what is permitted by the Royal Household.

Contract & manufacturing standards Our seating is tested to BIFMA and EN 1335 ergonomic standards. Upholstery foams and fabrics are fire-rated to BS 5852 Crib 5 and California TB 117-2013, with IMO MED certification for marine and yacht-club commissions. Textile abrasion is specified to a minimum of 40,000 Martindale for contract-grade environments. Finishes meet LEED v4.1 and WELL Building Standard v2 indoor air quality requirements, with FSC-certified timber available on request.
Corporate quality management Sagist Group operates under ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management certifications, with consolidated compliance documentation available on request to qualified procurement teams. A complete compliance dossier is issued for active commissions and is also available through our Catalogs library.
THE WAY WE WORK
Every Sagist commission is assigned a single named project director on day one — not a shared inbox, not a rotating team, not a third-party distributor. The director remains with the commission from the first brief to the final installed lamp, and is the named point of contact for the principal, the architect, the interior design studio, the heritage consultant or the procurement team for the duration of the work. The director's name appears on every drawing, every sample sign-off, every shipping manifest and every installation document.
Our process is structured in six stages — Brief, Design, Sample, Manufacture, Ship and Install — and the same structure runs across every collection from a five-key boutique hotel to a forty-villa estate to a royal restoration commission. The stages do not compress. The work is the work. Where speed matters — a soft-opening calendar, a lease handover, a pre-opening service date — we run programmes in parallel rather than shorten the work itself.

Confidentiality is contractual. Royal, state, embassy, principal villa and private collector commissions are held under NDA from the first drawing forward. No commission is photographed for publication without explicit written consent. Where consent is granted, the work may appear in our catalogs, our project portfolio or a private case study; where consent is not granted, the work is anonymised or excluded entirely. We have learned that the clients who care most about discretion are the clients who matter most to our reputation.

Vertical integration as discipline We make our principal work ourselves. The piece does not pass through a hand outside our own until it is set in the client's room.
The named director, not the inbox Every commission has a named project director from day one to handover. We do not route principal clients through a sales pipeline.
Confidentiality as contract Royal, state, embassy and private commissions are held under NDA. We do not publish, repeat or reference private designs across other clients.
The work is the work Hand-built and master-grade work is not compressed for marketing convenience. The time the work takes is the time the work deserves.
Repeat clients over new logos Most of our principal commissions come from repeat clients and the architects who have worked with us before. We measure success in second commissions.
Aggressive about expansion, conservative about quality We expand into new geographies, new flagship showrooms and new capital partnerships without compromising the manufacturing standards that earned them.
Sagist Group recently secured a one hundred and eighty-three million US dollar capital influx from leading UAE investors — a transaction structured under the leadership of Chairman Metin Durmaz and intended to fund the group's next decade of global expansion. The capital programme is directed at three priorities: flagship showroom deployment in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, expansion of the principal manufacturing complex in Istanbul, and capacity build-out in the classic atelier for royal and heritage commissions.
The investment positions Sagist as a global "safe haven" for development capital — a vertically integrated manufacturer with sovereign-grade client references, multi-decade operational history, and a financially backed expansion programme aligned with the largest luxury real estate cycles in the Gulf, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean and Western Europe. We invite long-term capital, project partnerships and royal, state and HNW commissions through Chairman Durmaz's office directly.
Sagist Group employs more than two hundred craftsmen, designers, engineers, project directors and installation team members across our Istanbul ateliers and twenty-three countries of direct operation. We recruit at the bench — master carvers, gilders, marqueteurs, upholsterers, joiners and metalworkers trained in the European tradition — and we hold our craftsmen across long careers, because the work takes a working lifetime to master. We also recruit at the drawing board, at the project director's desk and at the manufacturing floor's engineering stations, and we accept applications for principal positions from architects, interior designers, master craftsmen and project directors with international hospitality, residential and royal commission experience.
Sagist commissions are taken through a small number of named directors, each responsible for a segment or a geography. Initial enquiries are reviewed within one working day. A scoping note, a preliminary programme and a private meeting at the Istanbul atelier or at your address are arranged within the following working day.
